You Light Up My Life, Son!

Thank you Jesus, son of God. Every day we have light and life. The light we get from You gives us the strength and power to meet our challenges head on. The life we gladly accept from You, gives us the power to meet our sins head on.

Whether you are searching for answers or looking for a simple way to start your day, remember, Jesus is there to light the way. So when you think that things are out of reach, remember, there are those who care and those who will help you through the rough times.

“While you have the Light, believe in the Light, so that you may become sons of Light.”
-John 12:36.

Think of a time where you felt that the light went out. How did you feel? Lost, alone, scared. This message is a reminder that we are never alone. There is enough light and life to guide all of us through the hardest of times.

Share with us and others when you felt that you were guided by the light. We would love to hear your stories. Comment below. Share the word with others. Through sharing, we become stronger. Post your feelings below in the “reply” box.

Celebrate Freedom!

Happy 4th of July! This is a day we celebrate freedom. We wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday! On this day, ask yourself…what does freedom mean to you?

At Cons Helping Cons Free to Serve, “free” is in our name for a reason. Whether it is the freedom to serve or the freedom to be served, we value our freedom.

So remind yourself every day what freedom means to you. To us, it gives us the power to provide care and support to those who are returning to freedom. The view of freedom is different for everyone and therefore, everyone has different needs.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”
-Corinthians 3:17

Energy guides us…

What is energy? Is it a life force? Is it a state of mind or is it just a guide to help us move through this universe, allowing us to do the work we were meant to do.

When we belong to a ministry, we have already made the choice to serve others. We need energy to get us up in the morning, to move us, and help us lead others.

At Cons Helping Cons, we get our energy from helping our brothers and sisters who need us to guide them through their transition from prison life to “normalcy.”

Ask yourself, where do you get your energy from and with whom do you share your energy? Consider belonging to a ministry. When you wake up in the morning, your energy will come from knowing that the people you help are thriving because of your energy.

In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.  -Psalm 5:3.

The Mirror Tells All…

A colleague of mine posted a blog today that stated, The people we surround ourselves with are a mirror to our world. The manner in which we treat others with is a mirror to ourselves. We are each a reflection to one another reflecting back onto ourselves. The energy that guides us and everything in the Universe dictates this so. Only we can decide how we are treated by others as well as how we treat ourselves.” -Adam Cummings

Ask yourself, how do you treat your friends and family? Do the things you do in life reflect upon what you want others to see? We are often too critical of our shortcomings and often question all of our actions. Jesus Christ is aware of our shortcomings. His forgiveness should allow us to forgive ourselves and make peace with our family and friends. Treat yourself how you would like others to treat you.

Accept your shortcomings and acknowledge your strengths. “Only you can can allow for positive or negative reflection to assume positions within our souls.” -Adam Cummings

Ceremony to honor the fallen in our community.

The dedication ceremony of the St. Petersburg Veterans Memorial at Dell Homes Park marks one of the first collaborations between local government, the Federal Parks System, and a St. Petersburg Veteran whose mission is to give back to our brothers and sisters from our community who were killed in action.

The Gold Star Service Flag flies high above as friends and families view the memorial for the first time. Special thanks to the Gold Star Relatives, Lara Sayer, Councilmen Charlie Gerdes, Major General Edward F. Dorman, III, and the vision behind the project, Ret. SSG. Charles Claybaker.
